REED Resourcing Excellence in Education

REEd at UC Davis

REEd, located at the University of California, is deeply committed to moving research findings into practice by building the capacity of K-16 education systems to improve teaching and learning.

REEd works with school districts, county offices of education, and state departments to support educators in growing and improving professionally so that all students receive high-quality instruction. REEd provides a variety of services to LEAs, including technical assistance, consultation, presentation, and facilitation of professional development as well as evaluation projects.

A team of researchers led by Susan P. O’Hara and Robert Pritchard developed a series of Essential Practice Frames® (EPF®), including the Strategic Observation and Reflection (SOAR) Teaching Frames® for Literacy, Grades 3-12, and associated rubrics. These enable coaches and instructional leaders to engage together in cycles of strategic observation and reflection to drive improvements in teaching and learning.
