SOC 2 report focuses on security and confidentiality in Frontline’s cloud-based solutions for educational organizations.
MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA – January 17, 2018 – Frontline Education, an integrated insights partner to more than 12,000 educational organizations representing over 80,000 schools nationwide, today announced that it has successfully completed a Service Organization Controls or SOC 2 examination across its entire solutions platform. The SOC 2 report covers security of customer systems and industry standard security criteria as defined by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
“The safety and security of sensitive student and employee data is critical to our education partners and an unwavering priority for Frontline Education,” said Tim Clifford, President & CEO. “Protecting the privacy of our client records has never been more important and we have taken every possible measure to monitor and thwart potential threats or attacks.”
SOC 2 Certification is rare in K-12 education despite the incredibly sensitive data that EdTech companies must collect and store on behalf of clients. The majority of SOC 2 Reports that do exist for K-12 EdTech are limited in scope and often attained because many companies outsource their data centers. Frontline Education solutions are built for secure and confidential management and storage of the millions of human capital and administrative records amassed by clients every day. This SOC 2 Report covers all Frontline Education security operations.
“With more than 400 educational institutions reporting breaches since 2016, the SOC 2 report is essential to evaluate and ensure the safety of education client data beyond just the physical security of the data center,” said Ken Brown, Frontline Education Chief Information Security Officer. “Very few SOC 2 Reports exist in the education community. We are excited to take a lead in enhanced security and data privacy efforts in EdTech.”
Exceeding regulatory requirements while preserving client control over their proprietary data is essential to Frontline’s partnership with educational organizations. Frontline also conducts regular threat tests and assessments as well as ongoing monitoring to help protect client data. Frontline Education’s SOC 2 Report was completed by Grant Thornton LLP. In addition to the SOC Report, Frontline has designed its security program to comply with the security elements of FERPA, HIPAA/HITECH and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. Frontline is also a Student Privacy Pledge signatory.
Frontline Education’s SOC 2 report is available to clients and partners upon request and completion of a non-disclosure agreement.
