District Background

When the Eaton Fire devastated much of Altadena, Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) needed to act fast to support their community. Using Frontline Education’s Location Analytics, the district quickly identified those affected and streamlined communication with the community.

Location Analytics truly demonstrated its capabilities during a time of crisis. We were incredibly fortunate to have this application available to us during the devastating Eaton Canyon Fire that consumed much of our city, Altadena. Frontline Education responded with remarkable speed, matching the urgency of the situation.

The support from their team was exceptional. Thanks to this application, we were able to quickly identify the students and staff members affected by the fire. The data extracts provided critical contact information, making it easier to communicate with our community. Additionally, the team enhanced our maps by adding layers to isolate the fire zone.

The geovisualization of impacted students and staff was extraordinary, allowing us to plan and coordinate our support and interventions far more effectively. By visualizing the locations of our schools and the fire’s trajectory, we were even able to forecast how many additional students might be affected and assess whether our school buildings would remain accessible.
