The Framework for Teaching Evaluation Instrument

Charlotte Danielson, a globally renowned expert in crafting teacher evaluation systems, has distilled years of research and educator input into the Framework for Teaching Evaluation Instrument.

Shared understanding of
effective teaching

The Framework for Teaching Evaluation Instrument provides a shared understanding of effective teaching. The tool boosts confidence in the observation process for both teachers and observers, and serves not just for evaluations but also for mentoring, coaching, and professional development. Having this common language through the tool facilitates constructive conversations, promoting actionable insights for professional growth.

Co-construct Evaluations

Frontline Professional Growth supports collaborative, co-constructed evaluations incorporating the Framework for Teaching Evaluation Instrument.

Clusters

Charlotte Danielson condensed the “big ideas” of the Framework for Teaching (FFT) into a practical tool called Clusters. This serves as a foundation for teachers’ professional growth through self-reflection and discussions with colleagues, mentors, coaches, and supervisors. The three versions include Math Clusters, English Language Arts (ELA) Clusters, and Generic Clusters.

2022 edition features

  • Clear language for ease of use and scoring/accuracy in assessment
  • Allows observers and teachers to collaborate on precise, actionable reflection.
  • Provides critical attributes and possible examples for each component and level of performance
  • Makes explicit the instructional implications of the Common Core State Standards.

Danielson Rubric

A deepened relationship with the Danielson Group, pioneers in advancing the principles of the Framework for Teaching, now provides Frontline the ability to offer Professional Growth clients the new 2022 Rubric and training content with assessments. Additionally, the existing 2011/2013 Danielson Rubric offered by Frontline has been updated to include the latest teaching courses and assessments.
